Cataracts usually get slowly worse if left untreated. There is an increased risk of falls when cataracts are left such that they significantly blur vision. When cataracts cause symptoms, it is usually advised to proceed with surgery. |

No. Cataracts these days are removed at an earlier stage due to improvements in techniques, and improved safety with surgery. |

This is not essential for a private consultation but it is the usual practice particularly if you have health insurance as it will be needed for policy claims. Both the GP and your Optometrist can refer you directly. |
